× The federal government has shut down, due to the failures of the President & Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. No new funding to support the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will be provided until the President and Congress take action. We are utilizing funding previously allocated; however, a prolonged shutdown could put the program at risk. Please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

Farmers' Markets

California farmers provide nutritious foods to families throughout the state, the nation, and the world. The WIC Program supports the consumption of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, and encourages shopping at farmers' markets. The WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides one booklet of four $7 checks ($28 total) to eligible recipients for use at WIC-authorized Farmers' Markets and Farm/Roadside Stands between May and November of each year.

In August of 2019, the first farmer in California was authorized to accept the electronic Cash Value Benefit (CVB) using a wireless terminal. Currently, there are over 67 farmers authorized to accept the California WIC Card.
