× The federal government has shut down, due to the failures of the President & Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. No new funding to support the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will be provided until the President and Congress take action. We are utilizing funding previously allocated; however, a prolonged shutdown could put the program at risk. Please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

Welcome to the California Health Facility Information Database (Cal Health Find), a multi-purpose source of information on the more than 10,000 health care facilities regulated by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Cal Health Find provides health care consumers and providers with information about licensed and certified facilities throughout California. The web site's content is made available by CDPH's Center for Health Care Quality and its Licensing and Certification Program (L&C).

Cal Health Find is a user-friendly tool that makes it easy to:

  • Search for facilities by name, facility type or location.
  • View provider details, including facility ownership, licensing and certification status (acceptance of Medicare and/or Medi-Cal), and performance history (complaints, entity/facility reported incidents, state enforcement actions, and deficiencies identified by L&C staff).
  • Compare up to three facilities at a time.
  • File a complaint electronically.

The information displayed in Cal Health Find comes from data recorded in the federal Automated Survey Processing Environment (ASPEN) system and the state Electronic Licensing Management System (ELMS). While the Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) strives for accuracy, CHCQ presents the data as it is recorded in ASPEN and ELMS. Data not maintained by the Center for Health Care Quality’s Licensing and Certification Program is not available on Cal Health Find.

Due to temporary suspension of routine inspections, and to visitation restrictions imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, complaint, deficiency, and enforcement action data in 2020 and 2021 may appear to be trending downward when compared to prior years. Consequently, Cal Health Find data on performance histories may not completely reflect conditions in facilities during those years. The public should take this information into account when considering facilities.
