× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. ​​Custodian

The custodian works as part of a team and is responsible for facility maintenance of common interior and exterior areas in order to maintain a high level of cleanliness needed as a result of daily use of the buildings by occupants and/or visitors.  The facility utilizes sustainable work practices including using environmentally and friendly green products.  The custodian will operation systems or equipment, such as freight or passenger elevators, operate upright, canister, wet/dry, backpack or outside vacuum cleaners, pressure cleaners, and other equipment and machinery.  Responsibilities include general nighttime cleaning of offices, labs, warehouses, and common areas, including conference rooms, corridors, lobbies and restrooms.

Step 2: Take Examination/Assessment

Before you can work for the State, you need to take and pass an examination for the job type (classification) that you wish to be considered for employment. The assessment process can take many forms (i.e. self-assessments or written exams) and maybe required to be completed in-person or online. Examination Bulletins list the minimum qualifications and the steps required to apply and/or complete the examination/assessment. If you have current or past state experience, you may have Transfer Eligibility or Reinstatement Rights.

​Step 3: Search and Apply for Jobs

Once you have taken the examination or established eligibility for the job type that you wish to be considered for employment, you may be considered for open positions in that job type by applying for job vacancies. Login to your CalCareer account, locate the job posting you wish to apply for and click on “Apply for This Job” and follow the prompts.
