The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking state employee volunteers to join the Public Health Reseve Corps, a unit of trained strike teams that will provide emergency response support in the case of a state of emergency in the State of California that poses a risk to the public health.
Public Health Reserve Corps (PHRC) Strike Team members will be trained and can be called on at any time to be deployed to support Local Health Jurisdictions (LHJ) where they will be responsible for performing contact tracing/case investigation duties in alignment with CDPH and the assigned (LHJ) procedures.
For subsequent public health emergencies, PHRC Strike Team members will be responsible for independently providing support to the operations of the specific public health emergency.
Available Assignments/Deployments
- A PHRC Analyst must be a Staff Services Analyst (or equivalent in duties and pay) or above.
- A PHRC Supervisor must be a Staff Services Manager I (or equivalent in duties and pay) or above.
- Deployments will not exceed two (2) assignments of ninety (90) calendar days within a twelve (12) month period.
- Assignments will be performed remotely and will match the volunteer's work schedule as assigned by the home department.
Volunteer Essentials
- PHRC is open to state employees.
- Must be available for virtual deployment for up to ninety (90) calendar days.
- Able to deploy within seven (7) calendar days of written notice.
Desirable Qualifications of Volunteers
- Previously deployed to the California Contact Tracing Program.
- Bilingual certification (must be formally certified).
Additional Information
- CDPH will provide all training, instruction and direction of the PHRC.
- CDPH will obtain department approval for volunteer participation and enter into an interagency agreement with departments for all volunteers.
- CDPH will provide supervision of volunteers during PHRC deployment and training, and communicate with the home department regularly.
