× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. California Statewide Health Education


The Office of Problem Gambling provides health education and training (HEAT) services to aid in the identification of problem gambling behaviors and provide prevention and treatment resources to mitigate the effects problem gambling.

All health education services are provided at NO COST and can be customized to meet the needs of the requestors, included, in-language training, free educational resources and continuing education units (CEU’s) for the below listed licensing agencies.

CEUs available through California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT), California Consortium of Addiction Programs of Professionals (CCAPP) and National Council of Problem Gambling (NCPG)


Health education services include the following (but not limited to):

Consultation:
Provided through scheduled meetings to the requestor’s agency/facility

Outreach:
Provided through scheduled meetings at the requestor’s agency/facility, virtual presentations, health fairs, associations and conferences

Training:
Provided through scheduled meetings to the requestor’s agency/facility, via video/web conference, opportunity to provide continuing education units.


The gambling industry and law enforcement are valuable partners in the effort to addressing problem gambling. OPG, provides awareness and education training to industries and law enforcement. This includes casino employees, law enforcement agencies, colleges and universities, government agencies and others. This training is provided through the California Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG)

CCPG training can be customized to meet the needs of the requestors and includes free educational resources and continuing education units for the above listed licensing agencies CAMFT, CCAPP and NCPG.
