Preventing Worker Illness from Indoor Pesticide Exposure ā Using Integrated Pest Management
Employees, employers, building managers, and building owners should insist on using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to prevent and treat pest infestations.
IPM is an approach to pest management that uses information about the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment to determine the most effective and economical methods of pest control, with the least possible hazard to people, property and the environment. Traditional pest management emphasizes eliminating the pest; an IPM approach focuses on eliminating the conditions that are favorable to the pest, in order to eliminate the pest and prevent a recurrence of the infestation.
