× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

Occupational Health Watch: June 2022

New Long COVID and Workers Webpage

COVID-19 continues to impact workers and their families. Most people recover from COVID-19 within a few days or weeks, but some experience new, returning, or ongoing symptoms and health problems after a COVID-19 infection. This is referred to as long COVID or also known as post-COVID conditions. Long COVID is considered a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Occupational Health Branch's new webpage highlights long COVID and how it can impact workers. The web page includes information about requesting work accommodations, long COVID prevention, and support groups, as well as answers to frequently asked questions and more.

Please check out the webpage and share it with your networks. Also, our new COVID-19 workplace media and graphics about long COVID and other topics will be available on our worker tools web page in summer 2022.
