Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2). This lifelong infection can cause painful blisters and lead to infections in newborn babies. Treatment may reduce the symptoms but does not cure the infection.
