Vaccines
Vaccination helps to protect against mpox when given before or shortly after an exposure. There are two mpox vaccines currently available in the United States via the
Strategic National Stockpile.
At this time, the federal government has allocated a limited number of JYNNEOS vaccine vials to Californians. The California Department of Public Health is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Local Health Departments to make these vials available to protect against mpox.
CDC and
CDPH are continuing to update their recommendations for which communities are being prioritized for JYNNEOS vaccination.
Stay up to date on the latest information regarding vaccine strategies for mpox.

1 Vials for Los Angeles County are allocated separately by CDC. 2 "CA/CDPH" represents all vials allocated to CDPH by the federal government that are then distributed to counties throughout California, with the exception of Los Angeles. See Table 2 below for distribution of CA/CDPH vials.
3CDPH distribution of 6,000 vials only represents a partial distribution of vials allocated in Phase 4c.
