Valley fever

Data and Publications

Valley fever (also called coccidioidomycosis or "cocci") is a reportable disease in California, which means healthcare providers and laboratories that diagnose a case of Valley fever must report it to their local health department. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) uses data on Valley fever cases to track trends and better understand who is affected by Valley fever.

Data and Publications

CDPH produces two types of surveillance reports on reported Valley fever cases: (1) provisional monthly reports and (2) final year-end reports. ā€‹ā€‹

Surveillance Reports 

Provisional monthly reports

    Contain preliminary data on the number of suspect, probable, and confirmed Valley fever cases reported so far in the current year and provide comparisons to data from previous years. Provisional numbers are subject to change in final year-end reports.
