× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. Vector Control Technician Certification Program

The California Department of Public Health offers an examination for certification as a Public Health Vector Control Certified Technician on the third Thursday of May and November. The purpose of this examination is to certify the competence of government agency employees in the control of vectors for the health and safety of the public. Authority to certify public health employees is found in the Health and Safety Code and Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations. Note - only individuals currently employed at a government public health agency that performs vector control may apply to take the Vector Control Technician (VCT) Certification examination.
