× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. Infectious Diseases Branch

Surveillance and Statistics Section

The Infectious Diseases Branch (IDB) Surveillance and Statistics Section (SSS) collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates data from local health jurisdictions around the State on over 60 reportable communicable diseases followed by the Infectious Diseases Branch. IDB-SSS also maintains a typhoid carrier registry. 
The goals of IDB-SSS are to conduct and coordinate statewide surveillance of reported communicable diseases in California, maintain a high level of data accuracy and quality, manage and analyze surveillance data to monitor disease burden and to assist in the development of public health policies, and conduct research related to surveillance of communicable diseases.
