Apply to become a member of the California Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Advisory Committee.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is seeking applications for membership to the HAI Advisory Committee. This is an opportunity for highly motivated individuals with a variety of expertise and experience to participate in an active process to improve the quality of healthcare for Californians by making recommendations to CDPH on the prevention, surveillance, and reporting of HAI. Member terms are four years. The Committee includes representation from discrete categories as described in Health and Safety Code Section 1288.5(b).
Local health department officials: Local department of public health professionals including but not limited to health officers, communicable disease prevention professionals, public health nurses, and epidemiologists. - Two (2) Vacancies
Healthcare infection control professionals: Infection Preventionists (infection control practitioners), including but not limited to nurses, epidemiologists, and microbiologists, currently or in the past working in the field of infection surveillance, prevention, and control. - No Vacancy
Physicians: Physicians with expertise in infectious disease and hospital epidemiology. - No Vacancy
Healthcare providers: Individuals who provide care to hospitalized patients, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, infectious disease pharmacists, therapists and health care quality. - No Vacancy
Hospital administration professionals: Managers of hospitals, hospital departments, or hospital systems, including but not limited to chief executive officers, chief financial officers, chief operating officers, chief medical officer, and chief nursing officer. - Two (2) Vacancies
Integrated healthcare systems experts or representatives: Individuals with expertise in or representatives of an integrated healthcare system that delivers, manages, and organizes comprehensive healthcare services as a means of improving access, quality, user satisfaction, and efficiency. - One (1) Vacancy
Health care consumers: Individual consumers who are not affiliated with any health care provider nor regulatory entity. - One (1) Vacancy
Committee meetings are held quarterly in State buildings. HAI Advisory Committee members serve without compensation, but are reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with Health & Safety Code 1288.5 (c). We also encourage you to explore the

As a CDPH HAI Advisory Committee member, you will be discussing pivotal information and making recommendations to CDPH on topics related to the prevention, surveillance and public reporting of infections that occur as a result of healthcare. You may be asked to participate or lead subcommittees for developing evidence and tools to support Committee decisions and recommendations to CDPH.
Are members paid for their time?
HAI Advisory Committee members serve without compensation, but are reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with Health & Safety Code 1288.5 (c).
