Federal Fiscal Year 2018-2019 (10/1/18ā€”9/30/19)ā€‹

Early childhood home visiting pairs nurses or paraprofessionals with pregnant and newly parenting women. Trained home visitors provide support and education to families to promote positive parenting and improve child health and development. The California Home Visiting Program (CHVP) administers funds from the federal Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting grant. During the 2018-19 federal fiscal year, CHVP funded 23 local home visiting programs implementing one of two evidence-based home visiting modelsā€”Healthy Families America or Nurse-Family Partnership.

  1. A percentage of mothers are still pregnant at the end of the reporting period, resulting in a greater number of mothers than index children. An ā€œindex childā€ is the primary enrolled child.

  2. Participants of Hispanic ethnicity are coded as Hispanic, regardless of race. All other race categories (including unknown) include Non-Hispanic participants. 

  3. Household income is the total yearly income of the mother and anyone else living in the household who financially supports the mother or index child.
