Find and Choose a Nursing Home
California Health Facilities Information Database (Cal Health Find)
The California Health Facilities Information Database (Cal Health Find) provides health care consumers and the public with information about licensed long-term care facilities, hospitals and other health-care facilities throughout California. The websiteās content is made available by the California Department of Public Health, Center for Health Care Quality, Licensing and Certification Program (L&C). Information provided includes facility ownership, certification status (acceptance of Medicare and/or Medi-Cal) and performance history (complaints, facility self-reported incidents, state enforcement actions, and deficiencies identified by L&C staff). A nursing home can be located by entering a ZIP code, city, or county.
Cal Health Find also allows consumers and the public to file online complaints regarding specific health care facilities. Upon submission, complaints are forwarded to the appropriate Licensing and Certification District Office for investigation.
Nursing Home Compare is a federal government website managed by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This website allows consumers to compare information about nursing homes. It contains quality of care and staffing information for all 15,000 plus Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing homes.
Note: Nursing homes that are not Medicare- or Medicaid-certified are not included on Nursing Home Compare.
