CDPH Works on Controlling Norovirus Outbreaks
May 23, 2017- The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is working with local public health departments across the state to help control norovirus outbreaks that have increased in the past few weeks, and are occuring in schools and other institutional settings. 

May 22, 2017- The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) tested and confirmed that nacho cheese sauce that was sold at a gas station in Sacramento County has tested positive for the toxin that causes botulism. 


May 8, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health today warned consumers not to drink herbal tea in plastic pouches produced by U.S. Deer Antlers Exports and Imports Inc. due to concerns the teas may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum.

May 5, 2017- The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) today warned consumers not to eat recreationally harvested bivalve shellfish, including mussels, clams and whole scallops, from Santa Barbara County. 

CDPH Confirms First Human West Nile Virus Illness of 2017
April 28, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced the first confirmed illness in California due to West Nile virus (WNV). The illness occurred in Kings County.

April 28, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health is advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested bivalve shellfish (such as mussels, clams and whole scallops) from Ventura County.

Annual Quarantine of Sport-Harvested Mussels Begins May 1
April 28, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health today announced the annual quarantine of sport-harvested mussels gathered along the California coast. 

April 28, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health is advising consumers not to eat recreationally harvested mussels, clams or whole scallops from Marin County.
 
CDPH Participates in Prescription Drug Take-Back Day 

April 26, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health announced that consumers who have prescription drugs that are no longer needed or are expired can dispose of them safely on National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, Saturday, April 29.

April 20, 2017 - The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued 17 penalties today to 14 California hospitals, along with fines totaling $1,135,980.

February 22, 2017 - CDPH today announced that Studio City Rehabilitation Center, a skilled nursing facility in Los Angeles County, has received a Class “AA” citation, the most severe penalty under State law, and a $100,000 fine from the State of California.
