BACS programs are always here to help. Our services span
from the first sign of crisis, during treatment, and beyond wellness. We help
teens experiencing their first signs of mental health issues, adults who want to
live or work independently.
Behavioral Health Care Services
The Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) of 2004 spurred
BHCS to work toward creating a more integrated, culturally competent, consumer
and family-empowered system of care that emphasizes community-wide
participation, prevention, wellness, recovery and resiliency. When we launched
our planning process for MHSA, we reached out to stakeholders throughout the
community to help shape the future of behavioral health services in Alameda
Alameda County Public Health
Alameda County Public Health Department has an array of
programs and services designed to protect the health and safety of County
residents. The backbone of Public Health includes assessments of the health
status of residents, disease prevention and control, community mobilization and
outreach, policy development, education, and assurance of access to quality
medical and health care services.
International Rescue Committee
IRC provides opportunities for refugees to thrive in
America. Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to
seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many have
survived for years against incredible odds. They step off the plane with next to
nothing but their dignity, hope and determination. In Northern California and
many other regional offices across the country.
The Catholic Church is the largest provider of social
services throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and Catholic Charities is
the visible face of the diocese in that work. Founded in 1935, we are devoted to
providing social services and advocacy to the working poor and underserved in
Alameda and Contra Costa County. We are rooted in the belief that a strong
family is the foundation of a moral vision for society. Dedicated to the pursuit
of safety and justice, we are agents of change for the marginalized, regardless
of their religious faith. Through our array of services, we move children, youth
and families from Crisis to Stability to Prosperity.

CALfresh Food Assistance
The CalFresh Program helps to improve the health and
well-being of qualified households and individuals by providing them a means to
meet their nutritional needs.
Alameda County Community Food Bank has been in business
since 1985 ... with a vision toward a day when we can go out of business. We are
the hub of a vast collection and distribution network that provides food for 240
nonprofit agencies in Alameda County. In 2014, the Food Bank distributed 25
million meals -- more than half of the food was fresh fruits and vegetables. Our
goal is to ensure every food insecure child, adult and senior in Alameda County
knows where their next meal is coming from.
The Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA)
operates a number of housing programs administered by the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development that provide low-cost rental housing or rental
assistance for low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, and
others, in much of Alameda County.

United Way of the Bay Area
We take an innovative, holistic approach to ending the
cycle of poverty in the Bay Area through advocacy and programs that support all
ages—providing free access to family support, financial stability, job
opportunities and basic needs.
The American Red Cross of the Bay Area is part of the
Northern California Coastal Region serving more than 7 million people and is
comprised of the following chapters: California Northwest, Bay Area, Silicon
Valley, and the Central Coast.
