× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Information Technology classifications perform a variety of activities in support of information technology systems, such as microcomputers, multifunction automated office systems, and teleprocessing networks and/or systems.  The more senior classifications may develop problem solutions using information technology methods; conduct feasibility studies; act as project managers over information technology system projects; work on analysis and support of multifunction office systems; provide information center services and information technology system services; and develop information processing standards and procedures.

Application Development Support Branch

The Application Development Support Branch takes great pride in providing all the internal programming needs for the numerous diverse programs throughout the Department. Once a project has been approved, the branch staff assists and supports all aspects of the application process from gathering of initial project requirements to the maintenance and operations of the fully implemented system.

​​How To Apply

Step 1: Create or Login to Your CalCareer Account

With a CalCareer account, you can take state civil service examinations, store different versions of your application, apply for vacancies, track your application status and save your resume all in one place.

Step 2: Take Examination/Assessment

Before you can work for the State, you need to take and pass an examination for the job type (classification) that you wish to be considered for employment. The assessment process can take many forms (i.e. self-assessments or written exams) and maybe required to be completed in-person or online. Examination Bulletins list the minimum qualifications and the steps required to apply and/or complete the examination/assessment. If you have current or past state experience, you may have Transfer Eligibility or Reinstatement Rights.

​Step 3: Search and Apply for Jobs

Once you have taken the examination or established eligibility for the job type that you wish to be considered for employment, you may be considered for open positions in that job type by applying for job vacancies. Login to your CalCareer account, locate the job posting you wish to apply for and click on “Apply for This Job” and follow the prompts.
