× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. What was your internship with CDPH?

Working in the Center of Health Statistics and Informatics to improve the quality of the Vital Records data that is being released to all researchers.

How did your internship help you get to where you are today?

The CSU Internship has opened the doors for me to enter Public Service. I never thought that I would be working for the Department of Public Health after graduation. The internship taught me the skills I needed to have to work in public service as well as how to navigate the difficult task of how to apply and get a state job. It also gave me a chance to meet people and build my professional network.
