× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. Radiologic & Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification & Permitting 


Under the Radiologic Technology Act, the Radiologic Health Branch (RHB):

  • Certifies physicians, chiropractors, podiatrists, technologists, and permits technicians and physician assistants (PA) who use X-ray machines on human beings, and administers exams to physicians, technologists, PAs and technicians for X-ray certification & permitting.
  • Approves X-ray schools in the following areas: Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (RT), Therapeutic RT, Fluoroscopic RT, and Limited Permit X-ray Technician Schools.   
  • Administers the meetings of the Radiologic Technology Certification Committee (RTCC).

Under the laws pertaining to Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT), RHB:

  • Certifies individuals to use and administer radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
