The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Genetic Disease Screening Program (GDSP) runs two statewide screening programs for genetic and heritable conditions, the Newborn Screening (NBS) and the Prenatal Screening Program (PNS).

  • The Newborn Screening Program tests all babies born in the State for multiple disorders. Available data includes patient demographic data, analyte values for the screening tests as performed, determination of screen positive or screen negative status, and resolution of positive results as true or false positive. Newborn screening data are available from 1982 on.  Further information can be found on the Newborn Screening Program website: Newborn Screening.

Prenatal screening data are available from 1995 on. Further information can be found on the Prenatal Screening Program website: Prenatal Screening.
