Dietary Service Supervisors



The Department is aware that there is continuing difficulty for health facilities in finding qualified staff to fill the position of dietary service supervisor as identified in Title 22 California Code of Regulations (CCR) section 72035. Recognizing that there are qualified individuals who have completed training as a dietary manager or have demonstrated long term competency in the position of dietary service supervisor, the Departmentā€™s authority to grant program flexibility provides an opportunity to expand the qualified candidate workforce pool.

Health facilities who are in substantial compliance with Dietary Services Federal and State Regulations may submit requests for program flexibility for an individual who is a Certified Dietary Manager or an individual who has five years of experience as a dietary service supervisor.

Please submit with your request with the following information:

  • Name of the individual for whom the flexibility is be requested and
  • Either, verification of certification as a dietary manager or evidence of 5 year employment as a dietary service supervisor including dates, facility and employer contact information during the five year span
