× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. The Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Assistance Program (PrEP-AP) works to increase PrEP accessibility and uptake for eligible Californians and ensures underserved, at risk Californians have access to medical care and services to prevent new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections.

What is PrEP and PEP?

PrEP is medication an individual can take to prevent the acquisition of HIV. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is medication an individual can take within 72 hours after a potential exposure to HIV to prevent the acquisition of HIV.
