× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

CalFresh Healthy Living Program

California Department of Public Health's (CDPHs) CalFresh Healthy Living program is part of an ongoing effort to improve the health of families and communities in California, especially those that are at greater risk of obesity, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. CalFresh Healthy Living implements integrated programs and activities including creating social marketing campaigns to influence healthy behavior and community-level changes. CalFresh Healthy Living campaigns feature real Californians, not professional actors from across the state who despite the stresses of everyday life have committed to make small healthy changes. Our current Healthy Victories campaign celebrates small changes that lead to big victories in overall health. Visit our CalFresh Healthy Living website to learn more.

Media and Communications Plan

This Media and Communications Plan (MCP) is intended to focus on Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 and 2020 as it is important to understand the objectives for future years. The vision for the CalFresh Healthy Living Program is to shift from a social marketing effort designed to build awareness of positive health behaviors to a comprehensive, integrated behavior change movement that initiates action among specific target populations, community stakeholders, LIAs, and SIAs.
