Regulations relating to Pesticide Worker safety specify that certain loaders, mixers and applicators of pesticides must be monitored for exposure, as measured by depression of their cholinesterase enzyme activity (California Code of Regulations, Title 3, Division 6, Chapter 3, Subchapter 3, Article 2, Section 6728).
Cholinesterase testing on workers may only be done by a laboratory that has been approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The CDPH's Environmental Health Laboratory is responsible for maintaining the list of laboratories approved to perform Cholinesterase Testing for Occupational Health Surveillance.
