× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

Please be wary of potential highly partisan political messaging while visiting federal government websites for information related to the federal government shutdown.

Local Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health Division (Local MCAH)

Title V Scope of Work

The Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant provides core funding to California to improve the health and well-being of mothers, infants, children and youth, including children with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families. The Title V Block Grant is federally administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau(HRSA) .

Title V funds are administered by the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division of the California Department of Public Health. In turn, MCAH allocated Title V funding to 61 Local Health Jurisdictions (LHJs). The 61 Local MCAH organizations are the backbone of MCAH Public Health service delivery and play a critical role in the collaborative development of priorities and strategies that drive the MCAH mission.

The data displayed demonstrates variation in how LHJs respond to meet local needs as well as the collective efforts statewide.
