On August 1, 2022, the standard contract WIC formulas changed for WIC participants.

The standard contract formulas for CDPH/WIC currently include:

  • Similac Advance,
  • Similac Sensitive,
  • Similac Total Comfort
  Soy-based formula:
  • Enfamil ProSobee (no change)

 2022 Infant Formula Shortage

To help families through the current formula shortages, CDPH/WIC allows families to temporarily use their WIC benefits to select formula from more than one manufacturer if standard contract WIC formulas are unavailable. WIC provides contracted formulas as part of an agreement that is a federally mandated cost containment system. In accordance with federal regulations, all WIC formula fed infants may receive any one of the standard contract formulas below without a prescription.

More information on WIC formula contracts can be found on the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) website.

Information for WIC families on infant formula availability can be found on MyFamily.WIC.ca.gov.

If you have questions about your patient's infant formula benefits, contact your patient's WIC local agency.
