The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of the people in California. Due to the recent outbreak of swine influenza, CDPH is distributing information about infection control to help prevent the further spread of swine influenza.

CDPH has included two attachments. The first offers recommendations to general acute care hospitals to assist in developing specific procedures for infection control for hospitalized patients. The second attachment is a health alert that includes influenza surveillance recommendations, laboratory updates and a hospital prioritization plan for testing.
