SUBJECT:
H1N1 Influenza Virus ā€“ Updated Health Alert

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of the people in California. Due to the recent outbreak of swine influenza, CDPH is distributing information about infection control to help prevent the further spread of swine influenza.

CDPH is attaching additional information for long-term care facilities about the swine influenza virus, providing information about symptoms, basic safety precautions, including screening, limitation of visitors, contact information for questions about infection control, and the transfer of patients from hospitals.

CDPH also strongly recommends that facilities monitor these two websites on a regular basis as they will be updated continually as new information becomes available.

If you have any questions about the prevention and control of swine influenza, please contact your local health department.

Sincerely,

Original Signed by Kathleen Billingsley, R.N.
