Antipsychotic Collaborative

ā€‹ā€‹California Partnership Background

The California Department of Public Health has played a key role in efforts to reduce the use of anti-psychotic medications in nursing homes since the Centers for Medicare and Medi-Cal Services (CMS) launched its nationwide initiative aimed at improving the overall care of nursing home residents with dementia.

CMS published an update on these efforts in November 2014: "Data show National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care exceeds goals to reduce unnecessary antipsychotic medications in nursing homes."
