× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. Annual Palliative Care Pilot Program

The Palliative Care Pilot Program (PCPP) was created through Senate Bill 294 (Chapter 515, Statutes 2017) to expand palliative care services. Hospice care has been limited to terminally ill patients who have agreed to forgo curative treatment. The PCPP permits hospices to provide palliative care to patients with a serious illness. "Serious illness" is defined in HSC 1747.3(k), as a condition that may result in death, regardless of the estimated length of the patient's remaining period of life.

PCPP reports for 2021 participation are due on April 30, 2022.  The reporting portal will be open December 31, 2021 - April 30, 2022.

Licensed hospices participating in the Palliative Care Pilot Program (PCPP) are required to complete and submit a Palliative Care Pilot Program Data Report pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 1747.3(d), through the California Department of Public Health's reporting website. This report is due annually, on or before April 30 of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
