× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

July 19, 2022 Training Program Review Unit Update:

  • In compliance with Executive Order N-11-22 (PDF), the temporary waivers (below) have been extended until the end of the declared COVID-19 emergency. You may view other AFLs at the All Facilities Letter webpage.
    • Suspension of Specified Regulatory Requirements for Nurse Assistant Training Programs (NATPs):  Please read AFL 20-40.5
      • Please note:  Facilities and Continuing Education Providers that delayed submission of their program renewal must submit their renewal application by September 30, 2022.
    • Suspension of Professional Certification Requirements for Home Health Aide Training Programs (HHA Training Programs):  Please read AFL 20-57.5 
    • Suspension of Professional Certification Requirements for Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs):  Please read AFL 20-35.8
    • Suspension of Professional Certification Requirements for Home Health Aides (HHAs):  Please read AFL 20-49.6
    • Temporary Permission for Program Flexibility (CDPH 5000A) requests approved by TPRU and associated with AFL 20-40.5 and AFL 20-57.5 for alternate methods of Clinical Training have been extended until the end of the declared COVID-19 emergency.
  • Per AFL 20-40.5 and AFL 20-35.8, Temporary Permission for Program Flexibility (CDPH 5000A) requests approved by TPRU for the Hiring of Nurse Assistants must be renewed and will only be approved through October 6, 2022. Please submit your CDPH 5000A to TPRU@cdph.ca.gov for review.
  • ONLINE NATP OPPORTUNITY: To provide the theory portion of the Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP) via online or distance learning permanently, please contact the eLearning Review Unit (ELRU) at elearning@cdph.ca.gov or visit the ELRU website.  Your program may have both an NATP face-to-face agreement with TPRU and an online/distance learning NATP agreement with ELRU!
