New CDPH Reporting Tools will Benefit Cancer Patients and Research

SACRAMENTO - Current and future cancer patients, and researchers working to prevent cancer, are expected to benefit from new reporting requirements to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
"CDPH is pleased to partner with providers and clinicians to advance the fight against cancer," said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith. "Electronic reporting will help speed up data collection and, most importantly, match cancer patients to cutting-edge, potentially life-saving new treatments."
The implementation guide defines the reporting requirements and provides standardized formats for electronic pathology reporting of cancer diagnosis.
Electronic cancer reporting is required as of January 1, 2019, under Assembly Bill (AB) 2325, which was signed into law in September 2016 by Governor Jerry Brown.
