× The federal government has shut down due to the failures of the President and Congress to continue government funding. Millions of Californians receiving benefits from state programs may be impacted. For now, California’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) will continue to provide services and enroll eligible families as long as funding is available. No new federal funding to California WIC will be provided until the President and Congress take action. Families should continue to use their WIC benefits and attend their WIC appointments. This information is subject to change, so please monitor the California WIC website for updates.

This Emergency Rulemaking initiated a 30-Day Public Comment Period. The 30-Day Comment Period closed on May 31, 2022. Comments received were be considered by the Department and the final adopted emergency regulations were filed with the Office of Administrative Law for Publication in the California Code of Regulations.

Current Status of the Emergency Proposal

This Readoption Emergency Rulemaking was filed with the Secretary of State and approved by OAL as of December 8, 2022 and will take effect on December 29, 2022.

This Readoption Emergency Rulemaking initiated a 30-Day Public Comment Period. The 30-Day Comment Period will close on November 18, 2022. Comments received will be considered by the Department and the final readoption emergency regulations were filed with the Office of Administrative Law for Publication in the California Code of Regulations.
